Incorporating AI in the Design Process

The landscape for design-friendly AI tools is constantly evolving and improving and it’s up to us design leaders to help guide our teams through this ever-changing landscape. Here are just some of the ways I utilize AI in my design workflows and how I guide product teams and designers to leverage AI tools in their everyday tasks.
Product Strategy and Brainstorming:
Generate a GANNT chart based on a PRD
Organize FigJam sticky notes based on central themes
Summarize a FigJam session for stakeholders
Write product support documentation for users
Identify flaws and user pain points in a PRD, design concept, or current state
List out user stories to ensure all use cases are accounted for
Prototyping and Ideation:
Get design crit feedback to make actionable edits
Feed in a design and generate alternative layouts and theming
Rapid prototyping to test early concepts
Simplify an existing design into wires for stakeholder focus
Hi-Fidelity Design Work:
Demonstrate micro-animations and user interactions for both engineers and stakeholders
Write concise microcopy for UIs
Run an accessibility audit using WCAG standards
Usability Testing and Measuring Success:
Summarize UX research into actionable suggestions
Generate survey/interview questions for users
Connect Claude to HotJar/GA to gain insights into user behaviors and UI performance
Analyze trends and results of usability research
